Who will write the obituary for this tree? What would it say? How much has this tree contributed to San Diego compared to the average human citizen?
Yes, the old sewer line needs to get replaced. However, there are ways to do it without cutting down this tree. It would be more expensive of course but how much is this tree worth? How much value does it provide to the neighborhood and the city?
If this tree is going to get cut down, at least I can nature journal it some before it happens. Maybe the nature journal pages and this video can help get this story out there.
Do you think nature journaling leads to action? Can it really help save the environment when there is so much momentum to cut everything down and pave it over? Or is nature journaling just a way to write an obituary for this tree and process ecological grief?
