The 1980s U.S. military MREs contained some unique freeze-dried food items that have long since disappeared. But can they be recreated today?
In this episode, I attempt to recreate two of the most unusual vintage MRE components: freeze-dried pork patties and freeze-dried potato patties. From ingredient selection and preparation to freeze-drying and taste testing, we’ll find out whether these forgotten military rations deserve a comeback—or should stay in the past.
