CCHRC Building Educator and Carpenter, Ilya Benesch, recently presented in "Can I Build Here?" -- an Alaska Tribal Resilience Learning Network informational webinar that explored considerations for building on permafrost in rapidly changing arctic environments. Benesch explained site selection and foundation design considerations for future homes as well as the importance of regular maintenance and leveling to avoid damage to existing homes.
