Animation can make you rich just like any other career can make you rich: With hard work, experience, and probably a touch of entrepreneurship. That being said, if you're working at studios, you're likely not going to become "rich".
It also depends on where you live and the area you're in. An American animator may make more money at first because of their unions, but a Canadian may be more likely to get a job as an animator in the first place (due to lack of unions). If you're an animator in India, you may find it hard to make money in this profession. It's all quite variable. I am speaking as a Canadian television animator with 6 years experience in the Greater Toronto Area. #shorts
