My dad died near this tree in November, then fires burned most of the forest all around his house. This tree somehow survived. This tree I first climbed when I was nine. The fire almost burned down that shack where I lived alone for two years in my early 20’s. No phone, no lights, no running water. What burns down with unfulfilled dreams? What stays standing? What can this tree teach me?
