A little acoustic Merle Haggard from a night out playing with the JAM Band at Six-Seventy on Oak Bar & Grill in Spruce Pine, North Carolina.
This is “Ramblin’ Fever,” with Jody Lovelace and Mark Robinson on acoustic guitars, Jaren Robinson on cajón, and me doing something a little different — playing bass on a Kala U-Bass Scout fretless bass ukulele.
One of the things I love about this little instrument is how much it can sound like an upright bass, especially in a stripped-down acoustic group like this. Nothing fancy here — just a few friends playing an old Merle Haggard favorite on a beautiful evening in the North Carolina mountains.
