I recently got a 40 year old vintage Kyosho brushed 540 motor, the Le Mans 480T. After a lot of work i got it running again, but will it beat the speed of the Tamiya Torque Tuned motor fitted to my Kyosho Scorpion buggy?

For those that are interested, the Le Mans 480T was referred to as an "endurance" motor, with the longest runtime in the range of motors, with 8 minutes on a 1200mAh NiCad battery. It had a 26 single turn rotor and was rated at 20,000 to 21,000RPM at 7.2v. The six minute motors (360's) and 4 minute motors (240's) were lower turns and much faster, but with obviously lower runtimes.
I did rebuild this 480T, clean the commutator with fine wet-and-dry paper and add new brushes and springs. I also ran the motor in on the bench for a couple of hours at low voltage. After all that effort, the poor old motor had still lost a big chunk of those revs - that's what 40 years ageing can do!!!
