📖 Tutorial description: Since Camtasia 9 we cannot import Transparent MOV files into Camtasia which are rendered with the Quicktime Animaiton Codec. Camtasia currently only works with the Quicktime PNG Codec. The problem is that the newest versions of After Effects treat this codec as obsolete and its no longer available for render! So we have two mainstream programs, which plenty of users work in and we cannot simply get transparent files created and rendered in After Effects and make them work in Camtasia studio. How stupid is that? The viable solutions I found are:
1. Render a Transparent MOV file with the Animation codec and convert that file into a PNG codec with help of 3rd party programs (like FFMpeg)
2. Use After Effects CS6 to render out a Transparent MOV file with the PNG codec
3. Render a regular MP4 file with a green background and remove that color inside of Camtasia 9.
None of these solutions are perfet and those are more workarounds than solutions but I found that there is no proper tutorial on that topic so I decided to create one. I hope that clarifies the problem a little and makes it easier for you to get it finally done...somehow!
