This video is about a recent trip I took where I camped at City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico, which I learned is an ideal habitat for snakes... especially venomous rattlesnakes like the western diamondback.
I discovered I was sharing a campsite with one, and could spot it virtually anytime during the day, for multiple days.
The experience showed me a few things. It reinforced my experience that rattlesnakes are actually quite peaceful, and go out of their way to avoid people and want no trouble. With some simple awareness and caution, I learned that camping with a rattlesnake is not difficult or scary to do.
Please join us as we learn about my new friend, Norman, as I came to call him.
