Solo camping in the Florida Panhandle (Apalachicola region) in 2026 — despite extreme drought, we still found plenty of snakes! Highlights include multiple Pygmy Rattlesnakes, Cottonmouths, a beautiful Scarlet Snake, Corn Snake, several Ringneck Snakes, plus Box Turtles and a Dwarf Salamander.

What we found:
• Pygmy Rattlesnakes (multiple vibrant ones!)
• Cottonmouth (Water Moccasin)
• Scarlet Snake
• Corn Snake
• Ringneck Snakes (active even at cooler temps)
• Gulf Coast Box Turtles + Dwarf Salamander bonus

00:00 - Morning at camp by the tidal river
03:20 - First Pygmy Rattlesnake!
05:45 - Big Box Turtle with fire scars
06:45 - Cottonmouth during the rain
10:00 - Evening road cruising
12:30 - Corn Snake & Scarlet Snake
15:00 - Late-night Ringnecks

Perfect for anyone who loves Florida wildlife, camping in wild places, or night herping. Even in tough drought conditions, the snakes were moving!
