Camp VELO is one of those places you don’t expect to find… and then you wonder why it doesn’t exist everywhere.
Located in the Czech countryside, Camp VELO is a purpose-built cycling and outdoor complex designed specifically for bike tourists, bikepackers, velomobile riders, hikers, and even RV travelers. This isn’t just a campsite — it’s a hub for people who travel under their own power.
In this video, I walk through the entire facility and explain why we’ve returned here more than once. Camp VELO offers clean, modern facilities, space for large cycling groups, secure locking electrical boxes so you can safely charge expensive gear, and an excellent on-site restaurant that feels more like a destination than an afterthought.
What makes it even more unique is its history. The entire complex is built within the remains of a World War II military facility, including a massive bunker that’s currently being converted into a hotel, scheduled to come online soon. The result is a fascinating blend of history, smart design, and cyclist-focused functionality.
Camp VELO is also home to unique four-wheeled cycles and velomobiles, making it a natural stop for recumbent riders and alternative cycle travelers.
