Cameron Smith was given a two-stroke penalty for a rule infraction before the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday. Smith was attempting to become the world's No. 1 golfer and is rumored to be headed for Saudi-backed LIV Golf.
Smith placed 13th, while Will Zalatoris took home the victory. In the World Golf Rankings, Scottie Scheffler is still ahead of him.
According to ESPN's Mark Schlabach, Smith is "reportedly set to join the rival LIV Golf series." Smith has reportedly accepted a $100 million deal to join the breakaway series, which currently includes players like Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau, according to a report from The Telegraph last week.
