Here's the camera hack for how to record 4k video for extended periods without camera overheating on Lumix GX800, GX850, GX880 and GF10 cameras.
Removing the recording Time Limit on Lumix GX850, GX880, GF10
Always back up the file you are overwriting. Results are not guaranteed. Cameras vary based on where and when they were made. The same model can have different firmware.

1. The Boot Handshake
• Have camera OFF with the SD card inside.
• Set the top dial to P (Program Auto).
• Press and hold (TRASH) + (Right Arrow) + (Playback) all down together, and flip the power switch ON.

2. Triggering the System Lock (Do Not Skip)
• Press the (Playback) button so you can see a picture on your screen.
• Press and hold (TRASH) + (Up Arrow / ISO) down at the same time.
• While holding them down firmly, flip the physical power switch to OFF.
• Verification: The camera will pause, skip the normal Lumix screen, and flash a yellow warning triangle with an exclamation mark (!). This means your Engineering Mode is now permanent, and the file cache is open.

3. Dumping the Real Text Files
• Turn the camera back ON (you might see a temporary service warning overlay, which is normal).
• Go to your plain wrench menu, scroll down, and select ROM BACKUP.
• Select DSC -- SD.
• go to ROM BACKUP page 2, highlight ADJFLAG - ALL F, and press (MENU/SET)
• The screen will say "copy successfully completed"
• Now, turn the camera OFF. (You will see the yellow warning triangle flash again)

Take the SD card out and put it into your computer. You will now see three brand new text files sitting directly in the main root directory alongside your standard folders:
1 GX880F.TXT (or GF10F.TXT / GX850F.TXT)
2 GX880U.TXT (or GF10U.TXT / GX850U.TXT) — This "U" file is the one you need to open.
3 make a BACKUP of the “U’ file for safety.
Find the file with Notepad or TextEdit but to not open it yet- check “show options- ignore rich text commands”

Take your time getting the files dumped on the computer. Whenever you are ready and have your card plugged in, open up that text file that ends with U.TXT using Notepad or TextEdit.
Inside, you will see rows of hexadecimal codes. To quickly locate the exact flag we need to flip, use the search tool on your computer (Ctrl + F or Cmd + F):

1 Search the document for 0000,270f,6363.
2 find a block of numbers formatted like this: 0032,0000,270f,6363 or 000b,0000,270f,6363 or 0004,0000,270f,6363 etc (the first set of four will end in something other than zero)
3 change that first block (the one with the b) to 0000

Flashing It Back to the Camera
1 Put the SD card back into your camera and turn it ON
2 Go into your plain wrench menu and select ROM BACKUP
3 Select SDALL -- DSC (FORCE) or SD -- DSC
4 Turn the camera off.
5 A yellow triangle with exclamation mark will show indicating the camera is running on altered software. This is normal and will keep doing that.
Turn it back on, set it to 4K video, and your camera should run for unlimited time based solely on your SD card size or until is overheats and auto shuts down. Some cameras might have a 30 minute limit instead of unlimited. It depends on where and when it was made. Either way, it will record 4K more than 5 minutes! (unless it overheats)

COOLING TIP- Keep screen flipped up all he way, pop the flash into up position, keep battery door open and the side HDMI panel open so heat can escape from all orifices. clamp a baby stroller fan to the tripod below the camera and have it blowing air upwards onto the camera so it can blow the hot air away from the camera. Good airflow is critical.

Make sure WiFi is off
BEST CARD TO USE- SanDisk 256GB Extreme UHS-I microSDXC Memory Card
not the 128GB because it records at the very limit of what camera puts out. The 256 writes faster. Do NOT use the new 300GB/s cards with the two rows of pins- they actually heat the camera up faster.
