Dr. Al Garza | "Calvinism Challenged" Part 1. Act 13:48 A Jewish Perspective. @dralgarza | Uploaded October 2018 | Updated October 2024, 7 hours ago.
Dr. Al Garza will examine the claim of Calvinists that Acts 13:48 proves that God is responsible for electing people to eternal life. To anyone who does not understand how the Greek and Greek grammar reads and works in Acts 13:48.

1. Paul quotes Isaiah 42:6; 49:6 which says that “eternal life” will include the Gentiles.

2. With that prophecy, God through Isaiah had “appointed” Gentiles, not all, to eternal life.

3. The Gentiles heard this and began glorifying and praising the "word of God." Those who were (2a.)“ appointed” to eternal life through the prophecy of Isaiah, they believed.

That is how Acts 13:48 should be understood and read based on Greek grammar. It is NOT speaking about individuals being predestined to eternal life. This is speaking about a collective group within the Nations or Gentiles who were spoken about in Isaiah. Those Gentiles fulfilled Isaiah's "appointed to eternal life" by hearing, praising and believing. This answers the pluperfect participle in Acts 13:48 in the Greek. Any takers?
