I’ve been doing some reflection during the past two weeks. This time on the relaxdaily project itself. Today, exactly ten years ago, I started this music project by uploading the first relaxdaily tune (N°001) on this channel! Yes, it all began here on YouTube. Not me making music, but the relaxdaily part. Which is basically all I am as a musician today. The part before that was me preparing for the main thing without exactly knowing what that main thing would actually be (so you didn’t miss much ;).
Throughout the last year I thought I should celebrate this mark in a big way. Maybe with an album or so. Or some special piece of content. Because it’s 10 years after all. In the end this didn’t happen. The past year was not my strongest in body energy terms, and that’s OK, too. It was still a very good year. For this music journey. And for me as a person.
While reflecting I thought about how I started this project, what coincidences led to starting it on YouTube, what my thinking and expectations have been in the beginning, how I and the music changed throughout those ten years. I thought about elements that have been, and still are, surprisingly wonderful, which elements are less so, maybe even are potentially hurting. Through this I went further back in time. Ten years, or even 15 before I started relaxdaily. The time I already set course for my life with music, with actively playing and creating. I tried to recall what my motivation was back then, who my role models have been, what dreams I had, what sort of music I created, what sort came just naturally, and how this later changed and why. Stuff like that…
I also went through your comments again (youre so wonderful!), and also did a poll post on the current music formats on this channel.
I guess I’m a reflection type of person. Some are, some aren’t. Both is great. I believe, especially when there are layers that don’t really work or just feel bad, or have the potential to make us ill, that’s also a good time to do some reflection. But also such a reflection can make us understand things better. Projects, situations, relationships, our dreams, why we do what we do, even ourselves. To adjust, or simply to become aware and enjoy more.

My latest tune partly wants to calm and relax, partly also wants to question what beauty still is uncovered in front of us. Comes with an amazing evening view from this still wonderful planet, from the southern coast of Australia, which I could capture back in 2019.

“What If…” comes with an exercise, or game:
Day 1) Take a sheet of paper, your notebook, or open a digital page, e.g. in https://docs.google.com/ and write “What if…” on top. Thats it. Continue your day.
Day 2) Listen to the tune and write as many short sentences beginning with “What if” as you wish (20-50?).
Day 3) Tune in and write down another bunch of sentences beginning with “What if…”. (another 20-50? ...dig deep, this might be challenging but might also reveal a few gold nuggets)
Day 4) Read your lines and underline those that make your heart beat faster
Day 5) Talk to two or more friends about this exercise
This playful exercise is meant to bring out your wildest, childish, maybe very simple, maybe very ambitious desires, wishes, ideas, thoughts, items that are within you. Let them flow through you onto your personal note, make this a garden of ideas. Do not judge, just let them come. Allow fears to be part of it, but focus to think positively, as if you had infinite powers, as if the universe wants you and us to succeed, to live beautifully. You can start with things that are purely about you, very close to YOU (continuing the sentence actively with I). You might continue with things related to spaces, situations, or people that are part of your week. You might continue with big ideas related to infinite time and space, or stay on this planet, writing about life on earth. Maybe come back again to “What ifs…” that are again very close to YOU. This exercise does not promise anything. But it can remind you of something you’d like to make a step towards, to see if theres maybe a path worth exploring further, or simply to reveal that you’re already a very satisfied, happy being. Of course you can share your favorite “what if(s)...” in the comments.

Not long ago, in a conversation with a friend we talked about lots of stuff. How we feel, how it comes that we’ve sometimes been more productive in more dense, less perfect times of life, and somehow less so in times with near perfect circumstances. We explored, or tried to figure out what kind of motivation drives us to do what we exactly do and when our days feel fulfilling and when less so.
Towards the end of the video call my friend brought up a phrase she learned back in university. It was close to: “Young people often follow their dreams - wise people follow their bliss.” Well, that one was new to me. I’d like to find out more about it. We didn’t have a class about that topic back in school. Not about following dreams, nor about a thing like bliss. It led to the tune’s title.

Music can be much more than just pure entertainment. It can be a meaningful soundtrack that accompanies us through a moment, through a day, a phase, or through life.
Many use my recordings and piano music sessions as music while reading, doing mind work, to achieve better focus, while studying, while being creative, while reflecting or meditating, while coding or designing a product, a service, or the world of today and tomorrow. From your comments, I know that my music also works as relaxing music, stress relief music, spa and yoga music, study, work and focus music, or to set a calm tone at cafes, bars, lounges, in hotels and restaurants, mostly at a low volume.
This project is not as much about a genre as it is about a feeling. A way of life. With my tunes, I try to take a little heat and speed out of our generally quite busy lives. A soundtrack for you, when you feel the need for a calm and peaceful, light and positive tune, the Michael way ;)

3 hours of ambient relaxing music: This music mix might work well as deep relaxing music, or as your focus, study or think music. It starts with my new tune “Miraculous Strength”, followed by a selection of my recordings I created for this relaxdaily YouTube channel so far. The music comes with a view I captured at the wonderful south coast of Australia this February.
Following the pomodoro idea, you hear each tune for about 30 minutes, so your mind can easier focus on the task or question you are working on. I recommend a low volume setup for mind work, but in the end, when youre listening just for your own, thats up to you.
