Family and friends of Kendara Ballantyne walked Thursday in honour of a young woman whose death seven years ago in northern Manitoba remains an unsolved homicide.

The annual memorial walk in The Pas celebrates Ballantyne, an 18-year-old remembered fondly for her infectious laugh, big hugs and the selfies she'd take on her friends' phones.

"It's been seven years now, and the walk never fails to be a beautiful day regardless of the weather or who's speaking," her sister, Gloria Ballantyne-Packo, said afterward.
