Call Me Ishmaelle is Xiaolu Guo's new novel published spring 2025. It's a really interesting rethinking of Herman Melville's Moby Dick but you don't have to have read that infamously challenging novel to enjoy this.
I have been reading even more historical fiction this month than usual thanks to the Historical Fiction Readathon hosted by @CoynieReads @Shellyish @awebofstories @GloriaZThompson and @LiterarilySmitten
Other books mentioned:
The Mare by Angharad Hampshire
Days of Light by Megan Hunter
Whale Fall by Elizabeth O'Connor
Briefly, A Delicious Life by Nell Stevens and coming soon The Original
Matrix and Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff
The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley
