Sinn Féin's Matt Carthy has said that social media companies "need to be held to account" for posts which highlight dangerous and illegal behaviour on the roads.
The party's justice spokesperson said allowing videos that glorify "grossly irresponsible and illegal actions" to remain on social media platforms was leading to "absolutely devastating consequences".
He was speaking after five teenage boys were killed in a head-on collision, when their car was driven the wrong way down the M9 motorway.
The family in the second car - three women and a seven-year-old boy - are being treated in hospital.
