Californian politicians mocked the idea that they should engage in better water & forestry management practices while refusing to allow property owners to do much of that prevention work themselves without costly, time-consuming permits and navigating an approval process filled with regulation and red tape.
After this latest wildfire season devastated some of the most valuable real estate in the world, those same politicians and their supporters are pre-emptively blaming insurance companies for the struggles people will face in rebuilding their homes and lives.
But maybe those politicians should have "listened to the experts".
