Eileen Wang, the 58-year-old mayor of Arcadia, California, abruptly resigned on May 11, 2026, after federal prosecutors charged her with acting as an unregistered foreign agent for China. The couple used the site to push pro-China propaganda and shape public opinion within the Chinese-American diaspora. Encrypted WeChat messages revealed that Wang directly executed orders from Chinese handlers, quickly publishing pre-written articles that denied Beijing’s human rights abuses and genocide in Xinjiang. She also collaborated with John Chen, a high-level Chinese intelligence asset. Wang now faces up to 10 years in federal prison for her felony conviction.
