The research team developed bridge deterioration models for all bridge and culvert elements known as National Bridge Elements (NBEs) or Bridge Management Elements (BMEs). The research team developed, tested, and validated Element Health Indices (EHIs) then aggregated EHIs into a Texas Bridge Health Index (TxBHI) that prioritizes at-risk structures while balancing overall maintenance needs. These products are easily implementable into AASHTOWare BrM software and/or other desired TxDOT software. The project used the deterioration forecasts and the historical inspection database to identify and recommend improvements to design and construction specifications.
