New York has a way of offering people a hundred versions of survival. Caitlin tried several of them — therapy, distance, work, achievement, willpower — and none of them held. What she found when she walked through the doors of Church of the City New York was not what more she could do to change, but the tangible presence of God. He met her here, pursued her the way He always has, and called her back to something she had long since stopped believing was available to her.
For years, our church has prayed Joel 2:12 together in the Prayer Room — "Return to me with all your heart" — believing God was calling people home in this city. Caitlin's story is the fruit of that prayer. And what He did in her, He began doing through her.
