The Cairns Chess Queens Award is a $100,000 prize established by Dr. Jeanne Cairns Sinquefield to reward up to five American women who achieve the FIDE Grandmaster title before July 4th, 2029. GM Irina Krush was named the inaugural recipient at the award's launch to honor her status as the first and only American woman to earn the title.
