There are new covers on their way, this time played on the finest piano in the world. The piano is of course the Steinway & Sons D-model grand piano worth way over $100.000. The piano is often referred to as the "first choice", meaning that a lot of artists choose this grand piano as their instrument. Elton did also use this type of Steinway & Sons piano during the eighties and also during his famous tour with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 1986.
This song is one of my favorite songs by Elton. The song is Cage The Songbird from the album Blue Moves from 1976. This song is actually about legendary singer Edith Piaf, creating a fictional story of the hours before she committed suicide (she actually died of cancer in her liver).
This song is not a common track in Elton's live sets whatsoever, and have possibly only been performed a handful of times during 1977 - we do only have one recorded live version of the song. We can only hope it will return!
