This keynote speech was recorded on May 14, 2026, during the Compassionate Action Conference 2026.
Compassion is often seen as a personal virtue or a soft emotion, or is seen as synonymous with empathy. But what if compassion was the most powerful force for catalysing action, and could be measured and scaled to transform systems?
Drawing on the life and work of Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi and the global work of the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion, this keynote explores how compassion is a strategic framework for change across sectors.
It will unpack the idea of the Satyarthi Compassion Quotient: a framework created by Kailash Satyarthi which allows us to measure, track, and strengthen compassion as a force for justice, equality, peace, and sustainability.
Grounded in decades of activism and global mobilization, the session demonstrates how compassion can reshape leadership and decision-making in business, education, governance, technology, and civic life, informing policies, influencing institutions, and shifting social norms at scale.
As global challenges grow more complex and interconnected, compassion must move from intention to implementation. This keynote offers a practical lens on embedding compassion into leadership and system design through cross-sector collaboration and sustained collective action.
Participants will be challenged to move beyond seeing compassion as an ideal, and instead recognise it as a powerful lever for building just, inclusive, and resilient societies, and advancing systemic change in their own spheres of influence.
