The Cable Reloaded one-shot is both a continuation of SWORD’s role in the cosmic Last Annihilation crossover where the Dread Dormammu has taken over Ego the Living Planet’s body and seeks to conquer the galaxy, and the first follow up to the 12 issue Cable series by Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto, which ultimately replaced Teenage Nathan Summers with the grizzled warrior version fans have known for 30+ years. It’s a highly enjoyable, and extremely relevant continuation of Al Ewing’s work in the X-Men Reign of X on the SWORD series, and shouldn’t be skipped just because it’s part of another cosmic crossover.
