The United States needed a reliable aircraft to perform duties such as troop transport, supply transport and medical air lifts. In the end they decided to create a military version of the civilian aircraft the Douglas DC-3. Called the C-47 Skytrain, it would become one of the most important machines of the war with Dwight Eisenhower calling it one of four pieces of equipment which won the war for the allies. In today's video we look at the history of the C-47 aircraft and its impact on WWII.
