the Destruction of Independence Middle School (Ohio) Broote 2017-05-11 | some videos i captured from the Destruction of the historic Independence Middle School. Built in 1922 and served graduating classes 1926 through 2004. it sat abbandoned since until it was finally demolished in 2017. it was a beautiful building with classic school architecture. unfortunately it was filled with asbestos as most buildings from this era are and had to come down. I would have tried to get inside like some of my other videos, but the police unconstitutionally have trailers with cameras all over the city, and the IPD doesn't exactly like me lol. Currently there are 2 proposals in place. one turning the space into a public park with odes to the old school building (clearly i prefer this option) and the second involves turning it into a small retail mall with apartments above (obviously that idea sucks) B&B Wrecking did the demo work, and being in the field myself, they did an outstanding job, working through the rain most the time to keep the dust down. i tried to go at clear times throughout the rainy week so im sure i inhaled some asbestos to capture this. theres probably some locals who will appreciate it.
