TobiahIf sin is not disobeying God, and God's authority is not found in tyrannical and dictatorial command over the lives of mortals - that is, if the authoritarian theology of God's authority according to mainline Christian traditions is false - what then are we to make of the authority of God?
In this footnote to my video, "The True Sin of Eden", I offer a cursory answer - an introduction to the Christian Anarchist conception of God as expert.

This video is a footnote to my recent video, "The Theological Case for #LandBack". In that video, I asserted that private land ownership and colonialist land occupation were fundamentally connected to capitalism. In this video, I seek to elucidate that claim further by discussing the historical developments in land ownership in England from the 1500s to the present day, using the shift from feudal to capitalist land relations to demonstrate the centrality of private and colonial land ownership to the modern capitalist system.
I also mention a JohntheDuncan video on Primitive Accumulation in an aside added after the original recording, which you can find here: youtu.be/wyRDjh45GcQ?si=WBdo19YqtvYseuXh.The Theological Case for #LANDBACKTobiah2022-01-01 | The socialist arguments for supporting the indigenous liberation movements under the banner of #LANDBACK are irrefutable. However, there is a special burden for Christian leftists to support LANDBACK, for whom this represents not only a political and moral imperative, but a spiritual one as well.
Join me for this short discussion as I look over three major reasons why Christians are obligated by our faith to support LandBack and similar indigenous liberation movements.
Get involved: - Find out whose land you are on at native-land.ca (does not include Israel or disputed land in central Asia or eastern Europe) - Donate to the LandBack campaign at landback.org/donate - Follow indigenous activists (e.g. 4rsyouth.ca/land-back-what-do-we-mean) to educate yourself. - Join protests, sit-ins, and other forms of civil disruption in solidarity with indigenous activists.

But is this the only way of understanding Genesis 2-3, or does this ancient poem hold deeper truths?
Please join me as I delve into this pivotal chapter in the mythic history of Abrahamic faiths, applying the lens of Hegelian dialectics and objectification to reinterpret the developing relationship of Adam and Eve, arguing that one reading of these verses reveals the true nature of original sin - patriarchy, and the systems of violence it produces.

Notes: *The official NRSV translation uses the word "hell" to translate Gr. γέενναν (geennan). However, the word γέενναν is literally a transcription of Hebrew גֵּיהִנּוֹם (gēhinnṓm, “the valley of Hinnom”), which was simply the name of a particular valley on the southern border of Jerusalem. The use of "hell" to translate "the valley of Hinnom" is based on the assumption that it is a metaphorical reference to hell - however, as the hell doctrine only appears from the 4th/5th century onwards, this seems anachronistic, and so I prefer to adopt a more literal translation of γέενναν throughout. While some metaphorical reading was likely intended, it is not our place to put words in Christ's mouth to decide what that metaphor was.Women in the New Testament: IntroductionTobiah2021-08-14 | The first chapter in a three-part mini-series examining the roles of women in the New Testament.
