To celebrate that, here's a new remix.This is a rearrangement of Shining Wind, a track composed by Chikako Kamatani in 1986 exclusively for Outrun 3D. This composition already pays homage to the main theme of Space Harrier, so I only needed to make slight adjustments to fit the different hardware.I say that because the Space Harrier FM chip (YM2203) is quite limited (3FM, 3 PSG: Mono only). Reaching 5K followers on a channel I started just to share stuff with my friends wasn't something I was expecting some years ago.About this remix: I absolutely love the vanilla proto track and it is one of my favorite songs on the OST. However, a lot of people don't enjoy the happy feel of the original and I receive lots of requests to make an FM Makeover of Act 2.I then thought it would be a fun exercise to then rework my Act 1 remix into Act 2! Mastered Realm 2021-06-11 | This MIDI was converted from the SMPS files inside the ROM using ValleyBell's tools!100% accurate to the SMPS commands inside the ROM. The original Sonic & Knuckles collection MIDI is full of errors, so I ignored that version.I've done this to investigate some garbage notes present on the PSG channels. They are short beeps aligned to the beat, so their placement seems intentional!As an experiment I've shifted them from the PSG channels to the drum track and they appear to be some extra drums! If you listen to ACT 2 they used these drums in the same way!So I guess it's one more mystery solved :) Ah, one more thing. Did you guys notice the actual proto song has the long notes play twice on the lead channel? Apparently there's a limit on how long a note can be and to make it longer you have to place a max length note and another one after it with a special flag to join both notes. LB doesn't have the flag set on said instances, so Valleybell added them by hand :).We think the original tracks were in MIDI form and the midi converter didn't add them (and they didn't bother fixing it on the proto). By the time SK collection was made the original midis were probably lost and they had to retranscribe them all from the demos. ANYWAY!
