Like Earth, it was once a fertile world. Now it’s barren. But life can still thrive here in artificial domes. Under such different circumstances, how would life adapt to such extreme worlds?
Despite light-years between planets, life across the universe needs the same basics to survive, food and a reason to reproduce. Despite the vast differences in lifeforms, these common needs could result in some remarkable similarities across the cosmos.

This gives life, and the entire planet, its a purple tint. But where are all the animals on Zantar? This planet is quiet. No animals roam its surface, no birds fly in its skies. Mayacroom, a fungus, has a death grip on the planet.
Calax: instead of humans making Jurassic Park, imagine a world we could visit filled with dinosaur-like creatures. Thanks to a CO2-rich atmosphere, plants grow fast but have fewer nutrients than they do on Earth. This means herbivores have to have larger stomachs to eat enough food to keep them going. And carnivores need to be even larger to eat the herbivores. This means Calax is a planet filled with giant, dinosaur-like creatures.

With their roots in the Soviet Union, Zapad military exercises have traditionally been shows of force, meant to let NATO know that Russia was willing and ready to fight. Despite Russian claims that the 2017 Zapad exercises were only preparations for counter-terror operations, the exercises that were supposed to feature only 10,000 personnel turned into a 100,000 strong mock-invasion of eastern Europe with one clear message: Russia's military might is back.
And now recent declassified US intelligence documents show Russia amassing 175,000 troops in hundreds of BTGs (or battalion tactical groups) in four locations along Ukraine's border. A successful invasion of Ukraine would need to quickly take the country and set up defensive positions, in essence telling the west that a counter-invasion would cost far more lives than Ukraine is worth. Loud explosions could be heard on islands up to 65 km away. From space, the erupting column of smoke and even atmospheric shockwaves were captured propagating across the Pacific Ocean. The eruption started a magnitude 5.8 earthquake and a tsunami that reached as far as the United States. Although by the time it got there waves were limited to only about 4 feet. But the Tonga explosion will have far more reaching consequences than what’s happened in the immediate aftermath.
Preliminary observations showed that the eruption ejected a large amount of volcanic material into the stratosphere. Enough to cool the Earth, and at least temporarily, reverse man-made climate change in an event known as volcanic winter. Get ready for some extreme ice storms over the next few years, and if you live in Florida, you might want to buy your snow parkas now.

They sifted through the 1,173 proposal requests they had received for the observatory’s first year of life — known as Cycle 1- to decide who got time on the telescope. They made their decisions based on 3 criteria. 1. How much the proposal would impact knowledge within a selected subfield, 2. How much it would advance astronomy in general, and 3. whether the proposal really required the unique capabilities of the James Webb Telescope to be successful.

Etherum already uses less than 10% the energy per transaction as bitcoin, and it’s founder, Vitalki Buterin, is confident he’ll soon be able to drop the ornery consumption to 1/10,000th the current requirement which would bring it in line with credit card transactions. Whether or not they can pull this off remains to be seen.
But until crypto turns the planet into a blazing inferno, dogecoin to the moon amiright?

You see, what they didn't realize is that the bearing straight, the body of water between Russia ad Alaska, occasionally freezes over, allowing you to walk right across it. Factoring in this crossing, you can actually walk all the way from South Africa, up to Russia, across the bearing straight, and all the way down the Americas to the tip of South America. One journey that took 37,526 km taking you through some of the most dangerous countries in the world, frigid Russian and Alaskan tundras, and South American jungles filled with dangerous animals and plenty of drug smugglers.
And while this route seems crazy, two adventures, Karl Busby and Dimitri Kieffer are actually trying it, and they've already completed around half of it. And yes I know RealLifeLore's video was about the longest drivable distance and HAI's video specifically said they only looked at the longest route according to Google Maps, I just thought that made for a good intro.

Already paid your flat earth society yearly dues? Or maybe you fell for an April Fool's video? Well, I hate to break it to you, but the earth is curved.
You may have heard of the Bedford Level Experiment, but we're going to point out the major flaw in it. On top of that, there are two easy ways we know the earth has to be curved. For starters, the stars. If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere and you look South you see the same constellations. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Argentina, South Africa, or Australia, look south, you'll see the Southern Cross, and all nearby constellations. Now, this makes perfect sense, if people on a globe all look south, they’d be looking at the same point in space. But on a flat Earth, if everyone looked south, they would all be looking in different directions, yet they would somehow see the same stars?
Another great southern example. On a flat Earth let’s say you wanted to fly from one part of the outer ring to another? In a flat Earth the quickest flight would be a straight line between the two points, but that's not how planes actually fly. They fly in a straight line on a curved Earth, which would be a curved line on a straight Earth. This would be a much longer journey than a straight line on a flat Earth (watch the videos for visuals to help explain this). Looking at the flight paths, they just make no sense on a flat Earth.

So you think the Earth is curved? Don't believe in the flat earth? Ha, ha, ha, I laugh at you dear viewer. I’m gonna tell you what they’ve been hiding from you. This all comes down to something known as the Bedford Level experiment.
150 years ago Samuel Rowbotham conducted an experiment to definitively prove the Earth’s lack of curvature. There was a stretch of the river that was incredibly flat and incredibly straight. So in 1838 Rowbotham waded into the river, pulled out his telescope and planted it 8 inches above the water. He then watched as his friend sailed down the canal with a 3 foot tall flag. Based on the curvature, that flag shouldn’t have been visible after about 4 miles, but even when the boat got 6 miles away, the flag was still visible, even though it should have been almost 3 feet below the horizon.
Modern flat earth scientists have tested this theory again and again, and it seems wherever you look, you can see miles further than you should. So yeah, don’t believe everything you read dear viewer, the Earth really is flat.

More than 100,000 people sit on transplant lists across the US. Now at first glance this shouldn’t really seem like a problem. More than 300 million people live in the US and nearly 1% die every year. That’s almost 3 million bodies no longer using their organs. So why don’t use them? Well out of those 3 million, only 8,400, less than a third of one percent, die in a way that allows for organ donation. So the numbers alone make organ donation complicated.
But besides the numbers, it turns out there's a lot to organ donations. Often organs need to be transplanted within 24 hours. This means there is a complex system in place to get organs to the people who need them,. And besides how long you've been in line or how sick you are, things like your blood type, and even your location can make a huge impact on whether or not you get an organ. On top of that, you better hope your transplant center isn't shady, because they can reject an organ offered to you just to protect their stats, and they don't even have to tell you about it. More than 22,000 American infants died in 2020, or nearly 6 for every 1,000 births. Most other developed countries as far spread as Japan, Finland, Israel, and Australia have rates closer to 2 or 3 deaths for every 1,000. So what gives, why are we two to three times the norm?
First off, it’s not nearly as bad as it seems. A big part of this gap comes from differences in reporting methods and even the definition of what counts as a baby. Besides, the differences in access to affordable medical care and more prevalent rates of health complications keep us out of the top few spots.

Today, when people spot a bear, they call a hotline and someone comes out and tries to scare the bear away with firecrackers and rubber bullets. If that doesn’t work, the bear is tranquilized and taken to a holding facility; the world’s only polar bear jail.
The jail was built inside a former military aircraft hangar, and had 20 12x16 foot cells. The bears are kept locked inside these cells for the duration of their sentence, which can be anywhere from 2 to 30 days (or even longer for repeat offenders). When locked up they're fed only snow and water.
Since the jail was first built, bear-human conflicts dropped significantly, but now they’re on the rise. Climate change has made summers longer, delaying when ice forms over the Hudson Bay. Ice that the polar bears need to hunt.

At least back when I used to play it, the strongest armor in the game was diamond armor more than twice as durable as iron or chainmail armor. But when you think about it, diamond armor would actually be pretty horrible.
Diamonds are known for being one of the hardest materials on Earth, coming in at a 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. And this is where people start to think that diamond armor would be nearly indestructible. But that’s because most people don’t understand what ‘hard’ really means in terms of crystalline structure.
Diamond armor would actually be really brittle. Since all the carbon atoms are lined up very exactly, you create these empty planes going through the crystal, so if a sword hit just the right spot, it could slice straight through this plane. By comparison, any less 'hard' metals like iron or copper would be much better as armor because when hit by a force they bend/dent absorbing the force (as opposed to diamond that would just shatter).
So yeah, while Minecraft may be fun, it doesn’t do the best at teaching some basic physics to its players.

So the goats got to doing their thing and after 14 years their population had boomed to more than 30,000 and by the 90's more than a quarter-million. The goats were eating so much vegetation, they were actually endangering several local species like the famed Galapagos Tortoise. So a private group, backed by hundreds of thousands of dollars began hunting the goats to save the island.
Originally men patrolled the islands on foot and shot any goats they saw, but this wasn’t efficient or fast enough. In an extreme case of escalation, they brought in helicopters to herd the goats into open fields while armed sharpshooters sent them to goat Jesus. This helped wipe out 90% of the goat population, but 10% of 250,000 goats is still a LOT of goats.
Eventually, after much goat bloodshed, the humans managed to wipe out the last remaining goats.
The lesson of the story, sometimes conservation work is a lot more interesting than you would expect, and a few invasive species today can turn into a huge problem tomorrow.

Known in Russia literally as ‘The Winged Tank’, the Antonov A-40 was the brainchild of Oleg Antonov, a soviet aircraft designer known at the time for his A-7 military glider and later works such as the SKH[-1], and a series of aircraft named after him like the An-12 quad turboprop, An-28 reconnaissance plane, and the An-124 strategic transporter.
Before the A-40 came into existence, the Russians had experimented with strapping lighter T-27 and T-37 tanks to the underside of bombers to be flown into combat as early as 1935., but these earlier designs were scrapped because the tanks were simply too small with too little armor to be of any use against the Panzer II’s and III’s being deployed by the Germans.
Antononv, sketched a design for a set of glider wings that could be outfitted on a much larger tank, enabling it to glide while literally being towed in the air behind another aircraft. The flying tank, in theory, would take off behind the wings of a heavy bomber from a normal runway before gliding to the battlezone.
The sketch remained just an idea for another 2 years, but after the Germans began their invasion of Russia, Antonov was commissioned to bring his design to life. Unsurprisingly, the results weren’t all that great. Antonov attached a pair of custom-built wings to a modified T-60 tank that would be ejected after landing on the battlefield. Cables running from the wings to the tank's turret would allow the plane to roughly control its movements. But due to how little lift the wings could produce, the plane was scrapped.

The dish was made out of 40,000 aluminum reflecting panels in a 1,000 ft or 305-meter inverted dome. Last month a second of the 12 supporting cables snapped and engineers were forced to condemn the observatory. Today (December 3rd) another support cable snapped and the observatory came crumbling down.
