Oh my GOD, this song is finally out !
If you all had been following me on social media, you know that this song was a long time coming. Originally, this was meant to be somewhat of a fanmade opening to Trollhunters, but I felt that it just didn't work... And so, I kind of abandonned the idea altogether.
After receiving such positive feedback for my Trollhunters Serenade song (by the way, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, IT MEANS A LOT TO ME!!), I decided in later months to continue this project. Yet I still felt that an opening just didn't work out and I started having this creative block. Then I saw the official Trollhunters twitter page hosting a Trollhunters fanart competition, where contestants depicted past Trollhunters. And that's when I got an idea.
Why not make the song about Deya the Deliverer, the Trollhunter who banished Gunmar and his army of Gumm-Gumms to the Darklands ? Why not make it about that turning moment where she grew fed up of the bloodshed and decided to put an end to Gunmar's tyranny ?
And so, I was able to rework on this project. Drawing my inspiration from some of the amazing artworks from the Trollhunters fanart contest (which I will be listing down below), I was able to set the mood for this song and tell this short tale. The creative side of the Trollhunters community is absolutely inspiring, to say the least, and I have to thank each and everyone one of you who contributed in any shape or form.
One of the definitive artworks that inspired me was from S. Rhoads (aka DeskNinjaStudios) who made these amazing artworks of Deya the Deliverer. If you don't know who I'm talking about, you can check out their artwork (and stalk them on twitter and tumblr!!) :

Setting (the way I visualized the storytelling of this song):
Deya stands upon a hill, overlooking a battlefield in its aftermath. Death hangs heavy in the air. Too many of Deya's people are among the fallen, from veteran soldiers to mere children. Her heart was heavy with grief and anger. She had enough of Gunmar's oppression and of the many battles waged against his army of Gumm-Gumms. It was time to put the bloodshed to an end.
She heads downhill to her camp, gathering her generals to coordinate a last-ditch effort to defeat Gunmar. Arms at their ready, Deya's people launch their final assault against the Gumm-Gumms with Deya leading the way.
And on that very day and for centuries to come, this Trollhunter earned her name as Deya the Deliverer.
