Welcome to our Butterfly Sanctuary stitch-along! This is Block 1 Awaken and we're kicking things off with the wool appliqué version of this 2026 Block of the Month series.
In this video, we walk through how to lay down and appliqué your pre-cut wool shapes, including how to handle layering order, manage tension so your pieces lay flat, and tack down corners and points so nothing lifts or frays. Small things that make a real difference in the finished result.
We also cover three decorative stitches you'll be using in this block:
Whipped chain stitch
Bullion knot
Pistol stitch
Threads used in this video come from your Butterfly Sanctuary kit and include Eleganza solid, Eleganza variegated, Ellana wool thread, and Esme. The Ellana is dyed to match the pre-cut wool exactly, which helps keep your appliqué stitches looking seamless.
