After a successful launch event in LA in February, Virgin Atlantic’s “Business is an Adventure” event series touched down in Washington, D.C., greeting a gallery filled with 300 of the area’s most brilliant business minds and most aspiring entrepreneurs.

D.C. has always been an important market for us, ever since we started flying between Washington and London 20 years ago. It’s a special city, driven by individuals who are passionate about making a difference. Along with our partners 1776 and General Assembly, we explored how entrepreneurs make the most of the unique landscape that is the nation’s capital, and took an in-depth look at how the desire to create change drives businesses to succeed.

Our founder, Sir Richard Branson, was joined by a panel of leaders who have played a pivotal role in changing their respective industries and impacting their neighboring communities: Kevin Plank, Founder & CEO, Under Armour; Donna Harris, Co-founder and Co-CEO, 1776; and Sheila C. Johnson, Founder and CEO of Salamander Hotels & Resorts and Vice Chairman of Monumental Sports & Entertainment.

Moderated by Kristen Soltis Anderson, Political Pollster and Author of The Selfie Vote, the event also featured some exciting D.C. start-up companies who presented their forward thinking ideas in return for guidance and advice from our panel of experts: GoodWorld, Ethical Electric and EdBacker.
