Celebrating 20 Years on another one of my favorite and even more chaotic game than the previous one, Burnout Revenge. Last one they invent something new that defined this series moving forward. And now they added traffic checking, some are into it and some may not(let me know if you're one of them). The gripe that i had with this game is that it was less risky due to the simplified mechanics before they make it a bit more complex and less chaotic of that implementation in paradise when using heavy cars, downgraded physics and hitting crashed out rivals didn't crashed me out in this. But still, 3 and Revenge are my favorite of the mainline series and 2 was my only favorite of the classic series.
Playing on hardware mode. Long ago it was bland and not that colorful due to lack of post-processing effects that the software mode was only way to get that but now you don't have to anymore. I'm using these mods that made the game look a bit more high quality(esp. fonts), full 60fps on menus but this time on the original xbox it wasn't rendered at that frame anymore on menus since i tested on xemu years ago looking at the garage. Crash camera still had to be at 30 due to conflicts in some of the mods that i equipped.
Here is the mods that i used from this link: github.com/Nahelam/PS2-Game-Mods/tree/main/Burnout%20Revenge
Options that i checked on patches section:
- 60 FPS Menus
Options that i checked on SLUS-21242_D224D348.pnach(Copy that file to cheats folder of the emulator directory located in documents when not using portable.ini):
- Native Widescreen
- Ask for 480p
- Extra Particles while driving
- Falling car parts while driving
- Props Enable in Road Rage(all modes) and Traffic Attack(all modes)
- Force car LOD to Level 5 and Keep reflections
Trivial: It was odd going back to this version and i couldn't control the car while i was in the air. There was a option called Driving Air Control and i leave it disabled cause wanting to keep it vanilla. You can enable that if you want to get closer like in the 360 version which it's unknown why they add it in that but not in this.
