Experience the Burnaby Central Railway miniature train ride, one of the best family activities in Burnaby BC. Located in Confederation Park at 120 North Willingdon Avenue, just five blocks north of East Hastings Street, this volunteer-operated attraction delivers wholesome fun for children and adults alike.
Hop aboard one of the scale miniature trains for a scenic 10-minute ride through wooded tracks featuring bridges, tunnels, spirals, and crossovers. The railway maintains a collection of miniature trains, with six or seven available in steam and electric configurations. These trains look, sound, and perform like the real thing, creating an authentic and memorable adventure.
After your ride, explore the charming station area. Visit the train shop for railway-themed souvenirs and gifts. Discover the small museum at Rainbow Creek Station displaying model trains, miniature engines, photographs, and memorabilia. Enjoy ice cream, hot dogs, snacks, and cold drinks from the on-site concession. Covered picnic areas make this an excellent spot for birthday parties or relaxed family time.
Everything operates through the dedicated volunteers of the British Columbia Society of Model Engineers. Their passion and countless hours of service make the Burnaby Central Railway a true community treasure and such an amazing place for creating family memories.
Rides cost approximately $5 per person ages 3 and up, with children under 3 riding free. A 10-ride pass is available for $45 with no expiry date. Grounds admission is free and parking is available.
The railway runs on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays from Good Friday through Thanksgiving, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last ride around 4:30 PM.
