Today, we are at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, Indiana, to visit one of the most unusual graves in America. Somewhere beneath this grass lies a 1976 red Cadillac Eldorado convertible—and the woman who loved it so much she couldn't bear to leave it behind.
Aurora Schuck, originally from Cuba, co-owned a plumbing business with her husband Raymond. She was famous around town for driving her beloved red Cadillac with the top down. When she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 1989, she made one final, bizarre request: she wanted to be buried in her car.
To make her dying wish come true, her husband purchased 14 burial plots. A massive concrete vault was poured, and a crane lowered the freshly waxed Cadillac—top down, of course—into the ground. Aurora's casket was then placed right on top of the car. When her husband Raymond passed away years later, his ashes were added to the vault so they could ride together forever.
