A new OMV in a constantly changing world requires a committed, motivated and visionary team. On behalf of all those who help to shape OMV's transformation journey at the Burghausen site on a daily basis, we present the personal ideas of four colleagues - their personal backgrounds, their personal vision for a better world and the priorities and goals they associate with their work at OMV.
Dr. Timo Blumberg, Senior Expert Process Engineering Refinery at OMV in Burghausen, came into frequent contact with the topic of hydrogen during his professional and academic career. On the one hand, he sees hydrogen as a potential energy carrier of the future; on the other hand, he believes that new value chains for CO2 emissions, for example, can be realized using hydrogen. In his doctoral thesis, he dealt with the large-scale production of methanol using different production routes. He learned that not only fossil feedstocks such as coal and gas can be used, but that alternative and sustainable production routes are increasingly attractive. For example, CO2 emissions can already be converted into basic chemicals such as methanol using hydrogen. The topic is not new in science, but in industry there are still barriers that need to be overcome with innovative solution concepts.
Dr. Timo Blumberg's vision is the widespread use of emission-free hydrogen in households, industry and transportation. Increasing globalization requires a climate-neutral, resource-conserving and secure supply of energy and chemical base materials. As part of the OMV team, he can drive progress around the key technology of hydrogen and thus actively help shape the future. Today we are already working on the production of sustainable fuels for aviation using hydrogen, so that travel is no longer at the expense of our environment. In his work, it is particularly important to him to make a valuable contribution to our society in order to secure the future of coming generations.
