Link's Journal:
Day 5
The main entrance to Death Mountain was near the sanctuary. Zelda is thankfully still safe with the priest.
When I was going through the cave toward Death Mountain, I met an old man there. I thought he was a monster at first, but he revealed he was harmless. He had been traveling to Death Mountain and his lantern went out. I offered to guide him the rest of the way.
As we walked, he told me his name was Tren. His granddaughter was one of the girls that was taken by Agahnim. There was something else strange about Tren...he seemed to know more than he let on. He claimed he didn't know who I was, yet he suspected I was going to Death Mountain to seek the Golden Power. I told Tren I wanted nothing to do with the Golden Power and only sought to get to the Tower of Hera.
As we exited the cave, Tren gave me a small mirror. He said to only use it to find my way out of the Dark World. He also said that I could stay with him in a nearby cave if I need to rest.
Why did he think I was going to the Dark World? It's impossible to access that place while the seal is still active. Unless...could the seal be weakening? I found the answer to that question immediately as I was looking for a way to reach the tower. I noticed that odd blue shimmer from my vision. I thought it was my eyes tricking me but as I got closer to it, it didn't disappear. As soon as I touched it, I had transformed into a rabbit! I also wasn't on Death Mountain...or was I? It looked similar to Death Mountain, but it was very different.
I found two other creatures and asked them where I was. Luckily, I was still able to talk. One of them said that I was in the Golden Land. He had come here seeking the Golden Power, but had transformed as soon as he entered. The other creature had the same story.
I...had wandered into the Dark World! I asked if there was a way out and the creatures laughed telling me they would have left a long time ago if there was a way out.
Then I remembered Tren's words. I pulled out the mirror and gazed into it. I felt an odd sensation in my body as everything glowed bright. In moments, I was back on Death Mountain in my own shape, except I was right next to the tower. How strange.
