The semi-annual test of Hertfordshire Oil Storage Limited's warning siren, installed at the Buncefield Oil Depot, Hemel Hempstead. This siren is a Klaxon ES2S, and two signals are used:
In the event of an emergency, a two-tone alarm will sound. Once the danger has been cleared, a single-tone all clear alarm will sound.
The test, performed on the first Wednesdays of March (at 1430) and September (at 1900), sees the emergency tone sounding for one minute, immediately followed by the all clear tone sounding for one minute.
