Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello signed the Building Together Initiative that will help train hundreds more young people for family-wage jobs and put county construction dollars to work by creating more opportunities for local workers and local businesses.
Executive Mello also announced $300,000 in job-training investments for Clover Park Technical College. The event took place at the college’s Eastside Training Center, where young people in these programs are learning the skills to pursue high-demand careers in utility work and construction.
Together, these actions advance Executive Mello’s strategic effort to build an economy that works for everyone. This renewed commitment to workforce development will help expand apprenticeship opportunities, reduce barriers for local contractors who want to work on public projects, and launch a pilot program for project labor agreements on certain county public works and capital projects.
