🔧 Skills Week at Silverson | Engineering Meets Real-World Learning
At Silverson, Skills Week is more than just a work experience program—it’s a hands-on journey into the world of engineering. Over the course of a week, students from local schools joined our team to explore what engineering really means outside of the classroom.
They were guided by Silverson apprentices and mentors through real-world machining, teamwork, and problem-solving activities—culminating in a trebuchet-building challenge that put their skills to the test. Along the way, they learned how precise and rewarding a career in engineering can be, discovering the importance of accuracy, collaboration, and resilience.
For the apprentices mentoring them, Skills Week was just as valuable—a chance to build leadership and communication skills by passing on what they’ve learned.
Whether students go on to apply for an apprenticeship or simply leave with a new appreciation for the field, Skills Week highlights the many paths and possibilities within engineering.
