In this video I’m testing and assembling several Meshtastic devices from Meshnology, including the N30 (ESP32) and the newer N37 (nRF52840).
I also show how I programmed my own custom firmware to turn two of these nodes into LoRa temperature sensors for monitoring small houses where we dry sausages and meat.
These two devices communicate in peer-to-peer mode with a range of about 400 meters, which is perfect for my needs.
But the real goal of this video is bigger:
👉 I’m building the first Meshtastic mesh network in my town!
I’ll be using the purple N37, my friend will use the army-green one, and we’ll place several relay nodes on rooftops and buildings — including the school where I work (don’t tell my principal 😅).
The Meshnology N37 kit includes the Seeed Studio Wio Tracker board with a built-in joystick, display, LoRa radio, and support for solar power. One of the coolest features is that you can send messages even without a phone, using the joystick directly — as long as you’re running Meshtastic firmware 2.7.15 or newer.
