In this conversation, speakers Katerina Linos (Irving G. and Eleanor D. Tragen Professor of Law, UC Berkeley) and Mário Pedro (Coordinator of Justice and Home Affairs of the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the European Union) address policies and projects to help several migratory crisis in the EU and USA territories. Our panelists discuss ways in which countries can collaborate to craft coherent migration policies which transcend national borders to more effectively address the international migratory crisis. Mário Pedro speaks about the national competences of the Member States and the EU competence in a hybrid system of intergovernmentalism and supranationalism. On the other hand, Katerina Linos analyzes the different migrations policies, and the consequences that these have on migrants themselves.
