Building a roving, interactive animatronic mad scientist who looks like he鈥檚 carrying his own head inside a cage!
This is Part 1 of a multi-video series, and today we are tackling the heavy mechanics: converting an electric wheelchair into a high-powered RC base and prepping our character's head.
To get the wheelchair moving via an old RC flight stick, I hack open a micro servo to pull its motor signal and wire it into heavy-duty H-bridge motor drivers.
We take the chassis out for a spin to see how it handles before the heavy build begins.
Finally, I dive into the aesthetic build by repainting an old witch puppet head and using a sneaky airbrush trick with metallic silver paint to turn a cheap white wig into realistic, mad scientist hair.
