What if a robot could see a component, verify it, pick it, and assemble it automatically?
This machine vision robotic assembly system combines a MechArm 270 robotic arm, NVIDIA Jetson, OpenCV, ESP32, and a motorized linear rail to create a miniature industrial-style automated assembly cell.
Hereβs the amazing part: the robot doesnβt simply follow a blind pick-and-place routine. A camera captures the component tray, while OpenCV-based machine vision checks the required part and its color. Once the component is verified, the robotic arm uses a vacuum gripper to pick it up and place it at the assembly station.
The system can automatically assemble a miniature 3D-printed toy car while the ESP32 controls the linear rail, sensors, and peripherals.
Robot + Computer Vision + Embedded Systems + Automation = Smart Manufacturing!
This project demonstrates how technologies used in industrial automation can be recreated on a compact scale using accessible robotics and embedded hardware.
