The design of Jimmy’s boat is called a Rice Lake Skiff from Bear Mountain Boats. The approach is similar to a cedar strip canoe; thin strips are laid up on forms that Jimmy created using a CNC. When the build is complete, it’s covered in fiberglass matte and epoxy.

A very cool aspect of the boat is that the boat is made primarily from boards that Jimmy recycled from an old deck on his house. As a result he had to scarf the boards together to make up the overall length of the boat.
