Played with that latest improvements to CV1K emulation by bio_endio. These changes should be coming to mainline MAME, as well as the next update to ShmupMAME. For comparison, ShmupMAME 5.4, which I performed my PB on, has probably about 85-90% accurate slowdown. This is close to 95% with this build. (Sorry if these numbers are somewhat arbitrary, just trying to convey how its improved.)
This includes slowdown accuracy improvements, and a fix for the audio glitch that previously existed. (I reported about this one and MAMEdev fixed it! Thank you!). This is played in a custom build that has all that, + input latency reduction. Feels great to play. Huge props to bio_endio for his work. The slowdown accuracy is probably about 95% there,, if I had to guess, so its pretty close to matching the arcade PCB!
For comparison, Xbox360s emulation is only at about like 70% accuracy. Basically, Xbox360 has much less slowdown. And scoring in particular; playing in MAX rank environment, in this game is fairly reliant on having the proper amount of slowdown. This is why Im worried about the new Boosted ports that are coming out, because it might be that they wont or cant tune the slowdown properly. If it runs without slowdown, the game will be much more difficult to score.
As for the run, I had a weak early game but strong late game.
