When you think of a teacher or a college professor, you think nothing more of them other than the fact they are your educators but educators have an unwritten role prescribed to them the moment they choose this career path: They are your second parent/guardian. They provide you with the knowledge in the fields they are mostly expertise in in order to nurture you and prepare you for the real world/adult life from the moment you enter preschool. To some, a teacher/professor is like their parent because they have no other to turn to.

To all of us, our educators play such an important role in our lives which shape us into who we are today, no matter how long you’ve known them for.

I’ve known my linguistics professor for only two years. I took a total of three classes with him but all three classes were memorable. He’s an expert in a field where not many find amusing, myself included at first, but after taking these three classes; and I was lucky to take them with him, he made me really interested in the science behind a language and if i wasn’t into drawing and writing more, I’d probably aim towards getting my masters in linguists just for the sake of getting a masters degree. I just love languages.

My professor was funny, he knew how to make the class laugh in his own quirky dad-joke type of way, he was interested in his students' cultures’ especially considering that culture and language go hand in hand; he helped his students when in need among many other things. Never once have I had a complaint about him and neither have my fellow students who were taught by him either with me or before me.

That’s how much of an impact this professor of mine had on me in just the two years I took classes under and while he was still among the alumni before retiring but not really teaching me, we’d greet each other in the hallways when we see each other. That’s the amount of warmth I felt from him and it was immeasurable.

I’ll close my statement here because I’m still getting bursts of tears each time I scroll through my feed and see a post from one of my classmates about him.
