SHPO researcher Marcos recently visited the National Archives in Washington D.C. to dig into the history of the 9th Cavalry and 24th Infantry in Utah. We have well recorded history of the Buffalo Soldiers in Utah, but other details about their time here have not yet been digitized and can only be found in original records held by the archives. Marcos was able to review muster roles, letters, and other original documents from as far back as the 1860’s to expand what we know about these amazing soldiers.
